  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Upon inspection the following was observed: - There was no record for the emergency evacuation for the Group Child Care Under 36 month and the Group Child Care 30 month to school age. The manager said it was done with the school but not documented. - There was no record of the fire or emergency evacuation drills in the Group Child Care School Age program. The manager said they were not practiced as they practice it at school. The manager said that moving forward this will be done.

  Corrective action. Please ensure there is a record of a monthly fire drills and a yearly evacuation drill.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Upon inspection 1 staff did not have a site specific criminal record check. The manager said the site specific check has been applied for.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a site specific criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place in the community care facility.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the immunization status is obtained for all employees.

  Observation. Upon inspection, one or more employees did not have their certificates verified..

  Corrective action. Please ensure the educator and assistant certificates are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Upon inspection, there were 2 large air conditioners that were placed up high on a ledge in each of the classrooms that had not been secured to the wall. In the event of an earthquake (or a child shoving the unit), the air conditioner could potentially fall on and injure a child. A small fan that was plugged in & on, was also sitting on a piece of play equipment accessible to the children.If a child put their fingers in between the wires, it would pose an injury to a child.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

  Observation. Upon review of the staff certificates, 1 staff did not have their valid certificate posted in a prominent place in the facility.
