    A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

    Observation. The monthly fire drills and annual emergency evacuation drills have been completed however the evacuation drills were not available for review at the time of the inspection.

    Corrective action. The manager will consider a plan and provide a written response.

  • OR SUPERVISION

    A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the manager leave 6 children outside who were playing on a climbing structure with a swing, to go inside out of sight and sound of the children to support a child in the washroom.

    Corrective action. The manager said that moving forward, children will come inside with the educator if there is no other educator, assistant, responsible adult available to provide outdoor supervision.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Ice/salt melt was located in the shed with doors open and accessible to children while playing outside.

    Corrective action. The manager will locked the shed during the inspection, and will keep the shed locked until the ice/salt melt can be relocated.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed: -Basketball hoop had moss growing on the hoop laces, an outdoor sensory toy had cracked with sharp edges accessible to children outside. -potty chair located in the washroom had partially dried urine inside the bowl, and had not been disposed of and sanitized. -The change pad showed visible soil, and debris on it. There was no sanitizing solution located in the bathroom. The manager said they used the same sanitizing spray for both the kitchen and bathroom. -A tall doll house was not secured to the wall, had a broken spindle, and missing screws.

    Corrective action. The manager will review and consider a plan to ensure the community care facility and furniture and fixtures within.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed: -A tear in the carpeted stairs going the upper area -The fabric chair was visibly soiled and in need of cleaning -The change pad were observed to have at least 4 tears preventing effective sanitization

This was corrected during the inspection

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. In the outdoor play space licensing observed: -resilient surfacing was low in areas below the swing and climbing structure. -Nail heads were lifting on several floor boards, of the outdoor playhouse structure. This provides a tripping hazard. -The orange safety fencing, installed to prevent access down the hill at the side of the playground was curling forward.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection, one staff was observed providing a child under 36 months with a yogurt drink where they were laying on a soft cushion in the classroom. Hand hygiene had not been conducted.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to establish a program to instruct children in and to practice the rules of health and hygiene.
