    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One diaper mat had rips and tears, preventing proper cleaning and sanitization

    Corrective action. The manager replaced the mat and confirmed an extra mat will be available on site as a back up

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

    Observation. Two epipens are kept inside the facility and not easily accessible while the child is outside or transported to school.

    Corrective action. The manager said the epipens will be kept with the first aid bags with the children moving forward

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Emergency water expired in 2020. The manager indicated the expiry was missed on the yearly check of supplies.

    Corrective action. The manager purchased water to refill the emergency supplies and will document the expiry dates in a prominent place

    Observation. Fire drills were not completed for 8 out of the past 12 months with the Group Child Care School Age Program. The manager said drills are practiced as a whole with the facility and School Age children are not always present.

    Corrective action. The manager said the Group Child Care School Age program will practice their own drills moving forward.
