  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. Three out of four care plans had not been updated to reflect the current needs of the child. One care plan did not include the course of action for a food allergy.

  Corrective action. The staff said all care plans will be updated and reviewed by staff. She said yearly reviews of care plans will be done and updated through the year as required.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

  Observation. Criminal Record Check is not current (expired) for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Manager said CRC's will be applied for.

  A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.

  Observation. there is an area carpet in the 3-5 room that is in poor repair ,( fixed at ttime of inspection), there are two shelves in the infant toilet that are not secure

  Corrective action. the licensee removed the carpet and willt secure the shelving

  A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

  Observation. the outdoor play kitchen has a broken door and there is a toy car that is broken

  Corrective action. licnesee stated they will remove the broken piece and has already removed the car

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. the storage of toys on the cubbies is a potential hazard in the event of an earthquake

  Corrective action. the licensee has a plan to address this issue, they will be looking at installing cupboard but due to availability has not bee able to,please ensure the task is completed as soon as possible.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. the following areas are in need of repair or replacement, 1.there is a area carpet in the e 3-5 room that has become a tripping hazard with the corner turned up, 2.the outside door to the electrical equipment is in poor repair the wooden part of the door is rotting and peeling leaving the electrical area accessible to possible rodents.

  Corrective action. please ensure the carpet is replace or secured so that it is no longer a tripping hazard, please replace the door to ensure the electrical area is secure.please develop a plan as to how the above will be addressed.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

  Observation. A minimum of two character references were not obtained for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Ensure character references are obtained prior to employment.

  The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Licensing noted medication was available for one child, however there were no written instructions or care plan available.

  Corrective action. Ensure current care plans are kept and developed in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support, and any person requested by the parent.

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

  Observation. Staff said a child who requires a care plan has one developed, however it was not available for review.

  Corrective action. Ensure all records referred to in sections 56-58 are kept in a single place at the community care facility.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 staff files and noted one was missing immunization status.

  Corrective action. Ensure immunization status is obtained prior to employment.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 staff files and noted 3 did not contain a record of certificate verification.

  Corrective action. Ensure all educator and educator assistant certificates are verified using a system established and maintained by the early childhood registry.
