A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was medication on the counter in the kitchen and Lysol wipes on the back of the toilet in the bathroom. Both were accessible to children.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of children.

Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed attendance that showed there were 8 children attending on different days of the week. This included the licensees two children who are under the age of 12. The licensee explained she didn't think her children were counted in ratio because they were with their other parent somewhere else in the home.
Corrective action. Please ensure the maximum capacity of 7 is not exceeded.

A licensee must keep a record referred to in section 57 [records for each child] for at least 2 years from the date the child who is the subject of the record is discharged from the community care facility.
Observation. Upon inspection the licensee advised she discards previous children's records.
Corrective action. Please ensure the children's records are kept for at least 2 years from the date the child stops attending and that the withdrawal date is documented.

Observation. Upon inspection of the new gates, the locks were mounted on the inside, accessible to children, where they could potentially unlock and open the gate themselves and leave the premise.
