Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was medication on the counter in the kitchen and Lysol wipes on the back of the toilet in the bathroom. Both were accessible to children.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of children.

  Observation. Various toys and equipment in the centre require cleaning

  Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed attendance that showed there were 8 children attending on different days of the week. This included the licensees two children who are under the age of 12. The licensee explained she didn't think her children were counted in ratio because they were with their other parent somewhere else in the home.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the maximum capacity of 7 is not exceeded.

  A licensee must keep a record referred to in section 57 [records for each child] for at least 2 years from the date the child who is the subject of the record is discharged from the community care facility.

  Observation. Upon inspection the licensee advised she discards previous children's records.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the children's records are kept for at least 2 years from the date the child stops attending and that the withdrawal date is documented.

  Observation. Upon inspection the licensee could not make any children's files but 1 available. She said that they are stored in her email and they were coming up blank when she opened them on her phone.

  Corrective action. Please ensure there are current records for each child available.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed some areas of peeling and chipped paint exposing the drywall in the main activity area.

  Corrective action. Ensure that the community care facility is in good repair.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for an employee.

  Corrective action. Ensure to obtain immunization status of employees.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. A staff has a criminal record check issued by the RCMP; however, the required criminal record check through the Criminal Records Review Program has not been obtained.

  Corrective action. Ensure to obtain a criminal record check through the Criminal Records Review Program for each staff.

  A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (b) constructed in a manner, and using materials, that are suitable for the age and development of the children intended to use it.

  Observation. Upon inspection of the new gates, the locks were mounted on the inside, accessible to children, where they could potentially unlock and open the gate themselves and leave the premise.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the materials are suitable for the age and development of the children and to keep them free from harm.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the children do not have access to any object that may be hazardous to their health.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Upon review of the attendance records, 9 departure times had not been recorded in a two months time frame.This is a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Please ensure facility files are complete.
