  Observation. An employee certificate was not displayed in the community care facility.

  Corrective action. Ensure certificates are displayed in a prominant place in the community care facility.

  Observation. A record of the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner was not kept for one or more children.

  Corrective action. Ensure a record is kept for each child, showing the name and phone number of a medical practitioner.

  Observation. A minimum of two character references were not obtained and checked for one or more employees.

  Corrective action. Ensure character references are obtained prior to employment.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 care plans and noted 1 care plan had not been reviewed in the past year.

  Corrective action. Ensure care plans are reviewed at least once each year with a parent, and any person requested by the parent.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 staff files and noted the following: - 1 file contained an expired criminal record check - 1 file did not contain immunization status - 3 files had references, however no system to indicate they were checked

  Corrective action. Ensure current records are kept for each employee, records required under section 19(1) of the CCLR.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 5 staff files and noted one did not contain a record of certificate verification. This is a repeat contravention.

  Corrective action. Ensure verification is completed using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.

  Observation. Licensing noted there were no records of emergency drills being completed. The Manager explained they discuss drills, however they are not practiced.

  Corrective action. Ensure the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year.
