  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed: - The nap beds on the third floor were pushed against the half wall leading to the stairs. There is a concern that the children could fall over the half wall. -The nap beds were not stacked securely with different types on top of each other and easily moved off. The Staff person removed the ones that were not secure at the inspection. -One nap bed has broken areas of the mat material near the short edge of the mat.

    Corrective action. Please provide Licensing a written response on how you have addressed the above concerns to ensure a healthy and safe environment.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. During inspection Licensing noted that a fire drill was not completed for January, the fire drill records have been completed and updated for all other months prior and for February. Staff explained circumstances surrounding why January was missed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to practice and record a monthly fire drill.

    Observation. Licensing observed TV and DVD play electric cord loosely hanging off the shelf that was accessible to children. TV was secured on the wall, however, DVD player could potentially fall if the cord is pulled.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a safe and healthy environment is provided at all times when children are in care.
