• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

  Observation. Fire drill records were observed to have a few months drills conducted and recorded. The LO reviewed this requirement with the manager at the time of the inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure monthly fire drills are conducted and recorded.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

  Observation. Staff said that the previous emergency drill was conducted in January 2024 but a record of it was not made.

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. One of two careplans reviewed was dated for September 2023. The staff did not know if the care plan was reviewed annually.

  Corrective action. Staff all careplans will be reviewed at least annually.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. One of two careplans reviewed did not contain a complete course of action.

  Corrective action. Licensing and staff discussed obtaining information from parents that will support staff during and after an incident in which the careplans would be implemented.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. Two of 5 randomly selected children's files did not contain immunization status declaration.

  Corrective action. Staff said children's files will be reviewed for required information.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Two of three staff files reviewed: -One contained an expired CRC. -One contained an RCMP check.

  Corrective action. Licensing and staff discussed CRC requirement for staff. A plan will be submitted to Licensing.

  The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Care plan not for a child with diagnosed allergy was not available for inspection.

  Corrective action. Ensure a care plan is developed in consultation with parent of child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. Licensing inspected 2 staff files and noted that one did not contain immunization declaration

  Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete.

  Observation. Licensing inspected 2 staff file and noted that one did not contain character references.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. Review of four staff files found one was not site specific and 2 were not obtained, Licensing did review a document on file that demonstrated that one CRC was applied for.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have the appropriate Criminal Record Check.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

  Observation. Review of 6 children's files noted 4 were missing pictures. The Manager said that there are digital images of some children but not all. The Manager stated that she will ensure that all children have a photo or digital image.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all children in care have a photo or digital image that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
