- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following observations were viewed and reviewed with the manager; - planter on the outdoor play area damaged and hazardous - landscaping hoses throughout tripping hazard - privacy tarp damaged outdoors - debris on the outdoor playgrounds - staff personal items not stored effectively - wall damage shows sings of wear and tear - two shelves accessible to children not effectively secured the wall
Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. One staff on the day of the inspection did not have their Certificate displayed.
Corrective action. Ensure all qualified staff have their certificates displayed.

Observation. Food from home not effectively stored in several classrooms.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. -screws in a hallway drawer accessible to children in care. (corrected during inspection) -a tall storage shelf in the nap room poses a tipping hazard.
Corrective action. Ensure all spaces accessible by the children are hazard free.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - MEDICATION
A licensee must ensure that a child's medication is not accessible to any child, except that a child may have access to his or her own medication if (b) the nature of the child's medication is such that, without immediate access to the medication by the child, the child's health will be significantly at risk.
Observation. A child's epi pen was accessible to the child and other children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure medication is made inaccessible to children while being accessible by staff.
16040 - CCLR s.53(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation. A child with an epi pen did not have a care plan
Corrective action. The Manager said a care plan form was provided to the parent but has not been received back yet.
19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. A casual employee did not have a site specific CRC on file. Additionally, the non site specific CRC on file expires on January 16, 2025.
Corrective action. Ensure employee files are complete.
