  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. Licensing received a concern regarding children's lunch kits, which contain perishable items, being left outside unrefrigerated during extreme hot weather. The issue was discussed with the licensee contact who stated that the expectation is ice packs are provided by parents and to be kept in the lunch kit. However, the licensee contact agreed that with the current practice of the lunch kits being taken outside in extreme hot weather there is potential for the temperature of the lunch kit contents to exceed an acceptable level. At the time of the telephone call the licensee contact provided solutions which included the facility providing additional ice packs and the staff checking lunch kits to ensure the ice packs are cold. The licensee contact stated the process for storage of lunch kits will be reviewed and a follow up plan will be submitted to licensing.
