Observation. Licensing reviewed the log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events, and found them to be incomplete. This was corrected during the inspection. Ensure to keep a current log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events. Some children's records were reviewed and found to be incomplete. Ensure to keep a record for each child the date of enrolment and the date on which the child stops attending in the community care facility. Some children's photographs appear to be out of date. Ensure to keep a current photo or digital image of each child and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in a emergency.

- C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical
Observation. During the inspection, the licensee shared that they do not have a log of minor incidents and unexpected events. Ensure that you have a system in place to record all minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events. Medication administration information is not available. The licensee has been provided notes regarding medication administration by the parents in the past, however, the licensee was not able to provide any record. Ensure that you have a system in place to record any medication administration to children.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. During the inspection, dried pet feces were discovered within the outdoor play area accessible to children. Although outdoor play checks are recorded, a thorough check is not being conducted. Ensure that play area is properly maintained prior to children using the space and that this information is accurately recorded. The fire extinguisher has no tag to indicate when it was last serviced. Ensure that the fire extinguisher has been approved and recorded by a certified company. It was observed that the front-load washer and dryer are unsecured and accessible to children in the play area which may potentially result in entrapment. Ensure that this equipment has been secured. It was observed that the off-limits/garage containing hazardous items such as tools and machinery was accessible to children. Ensure children do not have access to this area. Hazardous objects such as sharp-adult scissors and cri-cut tools were found accessible to children. Ensure children do not have access to these hazardous items. Hazardous items that indicate that they need to be "kept out of reach of children" such as diaper creams were found accessible in the children's bathroom cabinet. Ensure that children do not have access to these hazardous items. The temporary fencing in the outdoor play area has not been made permanent since the application process. Children were observed leaving the fenced area which is not secure, therefore, the temporary fencing is ineffective and not suitable for the age and development.

- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. The facility is required to complete daily inspections of the facility space both inside and outside. It is apparent this is not being completed daily outside as animal feces remains in the play area during daycare hours. Provide your daily inspection checklist and advise licensing how you will assure it is completed and issues needing attention are taken care of daily. The complainant stated the outdoor play area is not enclosed in a manner to ensure children are free of harm. Several piles of animal feces are observed to be within easy access to the children with no barriers in place to ensure children have no access to the unhealthy feces. This must be resolved immediately and on an ongoing basis. The complainant states that a child was found playing with the dogs water and eating the dogs food. The dogs food/water dishes are easily accessible to the children and its location should be reconsidered to prevent access by the children. No children were observed playing with or eating the dogs food today. The complainant states scentsy warmers are within children's reach. There is a warmer in the bathroom with hot wax in it and one in the den near the floor which was turned off but contains wax. Ensure these scentsy warmers are not accessible to children to ensure safety. There is controversy regarding the safety of children inhaling scents/air freshners. Ensure you are aware of each child's sensitivities in this regard. One electrical outlet was found to be without a child safety plug. This must be corrected.
