Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): - Children had access to cleaning supplies in the washroom and one classroom because the child safety lock was not engaged - Diaper cream and plastic bags were located at a level that was accessible to children in the washroom

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed during inspection: - all fridges inspected had temperatures recorded above 4 degrees - a rug located in the Playhouse IT room was unsecured and presents a tripping hazard - lights located in the Lighthouse IT Nap Room 2 did not have a protective cover over the florescent bulbs - children have access to the storage room located inside of the Lighthouse IT nap room that contain stacked items that are unsecured, electrical appliances that are not secured or protected from removal from outlets. - cords that are attached to air purifiers located in multiple classrooms are not secured and present a strangulation hazard - the bracket attached to the drainage pipe located in the IT playground presents a injury hazard

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. - Both outside play areas have walls where the paint has chipped and is coming free located at child level - The children have access to the gas meters through the gate that has been installed. - there are areas in the play area that no longer have protective caps installed or have been removed by the children.

    Corrective action. Ensure all the walls are in good repair Ensure that children do not have access to the gas meters Ensure the protective caps and bump protectors have been reinstalled and a system to monitor these areas for maintenance and repair is in place.

    Observation. - Items stored unsecured in the hallway leading to the washroom - Electrical outlets with air purifier, cell phone charger, and other electrical cords that were not secured and accessible to children in care in both classrooms

    Corrective action. - Ensure hallway is clear and items stored are secured - Electrical outlets are free from hazards or that children do not have access.
