    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. The child proof lock on the freezer in the nap room is broken. There is a risk of children opening the freezer. Cleaning products and ant spray under the kitchen sink are accessible to children. The ant spray was removed during this inspection. A toy car battery was accessible to children in the backyard. This was removed during the inspection.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that children do not have access to any of the noted items.

    A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

    Observation. There are not enough emergency supplies for 8 children for up to 72 hours and food in the emergency kit has expired.

    Corrective action. the manager will ensure there are enough emergency supplies for all children for up to 72 hours and that all food has a current expiry date.

    A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

    Observation. Files for six children were reviewed. Consent to call emergency medical aid was not available in one file.

    Corrective action. The manger will ensure consent to call emergency medical aid is available in all files.

    Observation. Files for six children were reviewed. Two files did not have information for an emergency contact and one file did not have contact information for a doctor or medial clinic.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure all children's files contain the required information.
