A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Children's bedding and blanets were not being stored seperately.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure children's bedding and blankets are stored seperately to prevent illness spread.

Observation. Fraser Health CCFL License was not displayed in the facility

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. Observation. One volunteer's criminal record check clearance letter (CRC), was not site specific.
Corrective action. The Manager advised that she will either request to share the results or ask the volunteer to obtain a CRC from the RCMP.

Despite this section, licensee may employ a person as a volunteer who does not provide care to children or supervise children if the licensee or the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following (c) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one volunteer.
Corrective action. The Manager advised she will obtain a record of the staff's immunization.

Observation. Upon review of staff files, one employ did not have a criminal record check that was site specific. The Manager explained that a sharing form has been completed.

A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. Upon inspection of the first aid kit that was taken off site during the day of the inspection to pick up children from school, the supplies were not adequate. The Manager stated she is aware that these supplies need to be restocked. Manager showed Licensing Officer the supplies that have been purchased.
Corrective action. Please ensure first aid kits are readily accessible with sufficient supplies when providing care off the community care facility premises.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Interior foam was observed on two children's play chairs. The exposed foam makes the chairs difficult to sanitize.
Corrective action. The chairs were removed during this inspection.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): References for two staff had not been verified.
Corrective action. CCFL had a discussion with the manager regarding how to verify references. The manager stated all references for new staff will be verified by phone in the future.

Observation. A care plan is not available for 1 child with a listed allergy. Staff stated the child may no longer have the allergy.
Corrective action. Please ensure a care plan is available for this child or if the child no longer has the allergy please update the file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
