    Observation. Areas around toilets in multiple bathrooms are being used for storage. When toilets are flushed there is a risk of contaminated droplets being spread onto stored items.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure all areas around toilets are not use as storage areas.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Areas of drywall are exposed throughout the facility. This contravention is ongoing non compliance.

    Corrective action. The manager will create a plan to ensure that ongoing maintenance is carried out and to make sure drywall is not exposed.

    Observation. Medication listed in a care plan was not available at the facility. Staff stated they have asked the family for the medication but have not received it. Staff think the child may no longer need the medication.

    Corrective action. All medications listed in a care plan must be available at the facility. If the medication is no longer needed the care plan must be updated.

    Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed: -Areas of drywall are exposed throughout the facility in several classrooms. The Staff explained that this has already been added to the maintenance list to be fixed. -Bathroom flooring have cracks in one program.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a bleach bottle in the 30 Months- School Age program stored on the corner of the counter, accessible to children. Staff said the spray bottle was placed here after the morning snack clean up and is typically stored away from children.

    Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous items are not accessible to children.

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. Upon observation of toileting routine in the Under 36 Months program, a staff assisted a child on the toilet then helped the child wash their hands, while wearing the same gloves that were worn throughout the toileting procedure. Staff said gloves are typically changed after the child's hands are washed. Licensing provided education on health and hygiene and the importance of hand washing.

    Corrective action. Please ensure health and hygiene is practiced and staff hand washing is done prior to assisting children.

    Observation. One nap room in a Group Child Care (under 36 months) program is partly used for storage which is taking space away from nap beds.

    Corrective action. Please make sure the nap room is not used for storage.

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. During this inspection the following were observed: -Areas of drywall exposed throughout the facility. This is repeat non-compliance and was noted on Routine Inspection WBET-BMN42 dated February 26, 2021. -Five toilet seats/lids were not able to close so that they aligned with the toilet bowl. This is repeat non-complaince and was noted on Routine Inspection WBET-BMN42 dated February 26, 2021.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all areas of the facility are maintained and in good repair. To assist with this the Licensing Officer discussed implementing a facility maintenance plan with the manager.

    Observation. Sheets, blankets, pillows and soft nap time toys are being stored in a way so that they touch. This was observed in two programs.

    Corrective action. To stop the possible spread of infection please make sure each child's bedding and nap toys are stored separately.

    Corrective action. Please make sure the above items are not accessible to children.

    Observation. 7 children were present in one Group Child Care (Under 36 months) program. There was an ITE and an ECEA staff present. The second staff must be an ECE qualified person.

    Corrective action. Please make sure staffing is in compliance with Schedule E CCLR.

    Observation. Care plans are not available for 8 children who have recorded allergies in their files. Staff stated that some of these children have sensitivities to food and not allergies but it appeared to be unclear what symptoms the children may have and what staff would need to do if one of these children had a reaction to the foods.

    Corrective action. Please make sure a care plan is available for all children who have food allergies/sensitivities so that staff know what the symptoms are and what actions they need to take.
