If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.

Observation. LO observed there was no administration record of medication given to a child.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she would document medication administration moving forward.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. LO observed one fire extinguisher which was purchased over one year ago in May of 2024. This had not been serviced.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she would purchase a new fire extinguisher.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. LO observed there was no attendance record kept since January 2025.

Corrective action. Licensee stated she would keep record of attendance moving forward.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. During a walk through of the upper floor of the home, it was noted that a family pet jumped up on the kitchen counter, where food was open and present, and there was no attempt to remove the pet from the counter

Corrective action. Licensee/Manager will ensure not open food is left on the counter, and will attempt to keep the pet off the counter

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. LO was notified that one child present does not have a registration form as they are not normally in care at this facility

Corrective action. Licensee/Manager will ensure all children on site during daycare hours will have a complete registration

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The following requires addressing to ensure a healthy and safe environment: -Dome climber must be placed on a resilient surface, and is not geared for children under the age of 3 years -Animal feces present in the area designated for children's outdoor play

Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is present for children in care

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. Hot water tested today, reading 50.9 degrees Celsius; this is a repeat contravention

Corrective action. Please ensure hot water does not reach a temperature above 49 degrees Celsius

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Fire extingushers do not have tag's or recept to show date of servicing or of purchase; this is repeat contravention

Corrective action. Please ensure all extingushers are serviced annually

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. perfume, rubbing alcohol, glass cleaner located in the cupboards under the bathroom sink

Corrective action. Please ensure all hazardous items located under the bathroom sink are made in accessible to the children in care

A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. Hot water temperture today was 55.2 degrees Celsius

Corrective action. Please ensure hot water temperture does not exceed 49 degrees Celsius

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].

Observation. Fire drills have not been recorded since December 2021

Corrective action. Fire drills must be practised and recorded monthly

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Fire extinguisher is overdue for servicing

Corrective action. Fire extinguisher must be serviced annually

A licensee, other than a licensee providing a care program described as Occasional Child Care, must provide each child with daily outdoor play periods unless weather conditions would make it unreasonable to do so. (4) Despite subsection (1), a licensee who provides a care program described as Occasional Child Care need not provide a program of outdoor activities. (5) Despite subsection (3), that subsection applies to a licensee who provides a care program described as Child-minding only if the program provides care for 3.5 hours or more each day.

Observation. Licensee states that daily outdoor activities do not take place

Corrective action. Please ensure the children engage in outdoor play activities daily

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Audit of 5 children's files revealed one file missing Medical Practitioner phone number

Corrective action. Please ensure all required documentation is obtained and maintained

Corrective action. Please ensure all required documentation is obtained and maintained at all times

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

Observation. When asked where the Licensee records minor accidents/incidents/illnesses, it was noted that book used for recordings was packed away, and has not yet been found. A new system has not been started either.

Corrective action. Please ensure there is a recording system for minor accidents/incidents/illnesses available at all times.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.

Observation. The Licensee states that photos are typically taken with a cell phone when on an outing, however photos are not captured at any other time.

Corrective action. Individual photos or digital images must be available at all times children are in care
