    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing noted a chest freezer accessible to children in care located in the snack/lunch consumption area

    Corrective action. Manager will place a child lock on the outside of the freezer

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. Manager states that after diaper changing she uses a wet cloth containing soap to wash the children's hands rather than teaching them to wash their hands independantly

    Corrective action. Manager states they will ensure all children use bathroom sink to wash their hands as part of their healthy hygiene practise

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - General wear and tear on equipment. Ie: tables/chairs - Chipped paint work throughout the facility - Frayed edges of carpets

    Corrective action. Ensure the facility is clean and in good repair while children are in attendance and provide Licensing with a corrective action plan for addressing.

    A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed strollers used for sleeping children - discussed with manager as not appropriate to use as sleeping equipment.

    Corrective action. Manager will use sleeping mats going forward.

    Observation. In the outdoor play area, Licensing observed that the following: - tool shed door was open - garden tools accessible to children - hose and electric cable along pathway - concern of a tripping hazard In the indoor area, the diaper change mat has some tiny tears which is a cause for cross contamination

    Corrective action. Licensee will ensure a safe environment and will change the diaper change pad. Please provide a corrective action plan.
