  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the emergency supplies lacked water.

  Corrective action. Ensure that water is included for children in the emergency supplies.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that one child's time of arrival was not recorded on the daily attendance sheet.

  Corrective action. Ensure that this information is recorded daily. If parents forget, it is the responsibility of staff to record the child's arrival time.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that there was a wooden climbing equipment leaning on the wall at the nap room, which may fall on a child while sleeping.

  Corrective action. Ensure that a safe environment is provided at all times.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following in regards to the playhouse structure located at the outdoor play area: - Peeling paint - Some surfaces not smooth to touch and may be a cause for blisters to children - Wood rotting in some parts

  Corrective action. Ensure that this item is fixed outdoors.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

  Observation. Licensing observed that a copy of the policies and procedures of the facility was not available on-site.

  Corrective action. Ensure this document is available on-site.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. An employee's CRC was applied for by another organization.

  Corrective action. Employees can share their BC Ministry of Justice's Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) CRC results w/ other organizations enrolled or registered w/ the CRRP: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/crime-prevention/criminal-record-check/sharing-results In the meantime, this employee cannot work alone w/ children or assist w/ toileting/diapering.

  12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a)

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. CCFL reviewed all children's immunization status & found that 1 child lacked her immunization status.

  Corrective action. All requirements of s. 57 must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. There was no evidence that 2 children's care plans have been reviewed by their parents in the past year.

  Corrective action. Care plans must be reviewed annually, & written evidence of this must be available.
