    Observation. Certificates for all educators and assistants employed at the facility were not posted. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that all certificates be posted in a prominent place in the community care facility. The purpose is to provide evidence to the public and licensing of the necessary staff qualifications. Licensing must receive confirmation that all educator and assistant certificates have been posted no later than December 4, 2025.

  • C5.1 - Are healthy eating and nutritional habits promoted and practiced?Non-critical

    Observation. Information regarding daily food and drink offered to children is not currently made available to parents. This is required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation section 48(6). The purpose is to assure parents that children are receiving healthy food and drink while in care. Licensing must receive confirmation that parents are being informed of daily food and drink offerings no later than December 4, 2025.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. Staff files reviewed did not consistently contain the records required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation. Immunization status, valid criminal record checks, a valid licence to practice and evidence of reference checks were missing from some records. The Child Care Licensing Regulation states that all required records must be obtained prior to employment. The purpose of this is to verify and have evidence of adequate qualifications. Licensing must receive confirmation that staff records are complete no later than December 4, 2025.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. Child records reviewed did not consistently contain date of enrolment to facility. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that this date be included for all children enrolled. This is to ensure an accurate timeline of each child's attendance at the facility. Attendance records reviewed did not consistently include time of departure. The Child Care Licensing Regulation requires that the time of arrival and departure be recorded daily for all children in attendance. This is to ensure accurate record keeping and preparedness in the event of an emergency. Licensing must receive confirmation that all child records and attendance are complete no later than December 4, 2025.

    Observation. One ECE staff has been absent for more than 30 days. This position has been replaced with an ECEA qualified staff for duration of absence. Now that this absence has exceeded 30 days, an exemption must be applied for if the intention is to continue to cover the position with an ECEA. The process to apply for an exemption was discussed with the manager during the inspection.

    Observation. Two staff present at time of inspection do not have required documents on site - valid criminal record clearance letter, immunization status and references.

    Observation. The facility minor incident reports were reviewed. One incident was found and brought to the attention of the facility manager as needing to be reported. Schedule H definitions of what is reportable were discussed. Attendance records for each program were reviewed. Departure times have not been consistently recorded. The system in place to ensure attendance is recorded correctly was discussed with the manager. A new system of signing children out at the end of the day must be implemented to ensure compliance.

    Observation. The fire drill record was reviewed. Monthly drills were not performed regularly as required, at least once each month. LO Vermeulen and the manager discussed different systems that could be implemented to ensure compliance. No record of emergency plan implementation/review was available at time of inspection.
