(Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing reviewed staff file and one staff file was missing validation of ECE certification.
Corrective action. Manager validated certificate during inspection.

- RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was observed that one child had a care plan. The care plan has not been reviewed annually.
Corrective action. Please ensure all care plans are reviewed annually.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. During the routine inspection 5 staff files were reviewed and one staff file was missing reference letter. Four other references letter for staff files were present but have not yet been verified.
Corrective action. Please ensure all staff files are complete.

A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. During the routine inspection it was noted that one room has not noted down their fire drill for their month of October. Manager said that they had conducted the fire drill but have not marked it down.
Corrective action. Please ensure fire drill is conducted monthly and marked down.

13060 - CCLR s.56(1)(d) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation. Review of the non reportable log book revealed there was no record of an unexpected event involving a child, or actions by the employees in response to the event.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Medication stored in a child's backpack that was unzipped and located on a shelf accessible to children.Staff stated that the pack is usually placed up high on a hook. The bag was secured out of reach of children during the inspection.
Corrective action. ensure safe and secure storage systems are maintained when storing hazardous products such as medications to reduce risk of harm.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Current practice of attendance does not include children who are absent, it is however noted that times of arrival and departure is captured.
Corrective action. ensure attendance records include information on whether children are absent , present and includes times of arrival and departure.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (k) the date on which the child stops attending the community care facility.
Observation. At reviewing of children's registration forms it was noted that there was not a field to insert date of withdrawal.
Corrective action. please ensure records are maintained which include the date the child stops attending the facility.
