    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A water hose loosely wrapped around the handrail on the upper deck, which poses an entanglement risk. -Still water remaining on top of the sandbox cover, which poses a hygiene concern as it can harbor harmful bacteria and other microorganisms.

    Observation. Licensing was unable to observe the most recent servicing date of the fire extinguisher.

    Observation. Licensing observed that the water in the emergency preparedness supplies expired in 2021. The emergency food is still current until 2025.

    Observation. Licensing observed that a child requires an epi-pen but does not have a care plan.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing came out during the morning outdoor time. The program has just transition from multi age to infant/toddler program and the manager has her Infant/toddler certificate. The second staff member at the program has her Early Childhood Education Assistant certificate. There were 5 children in care. There was no ECE certified staff member at the program. The manager stated that there was an ECE hired and she would begin at the end of September. Licensing explained that until then the program was in non compliance with the Regulations. The manager stated that she would look to fill the role with an ECE certified staff member tomorrow and for the next few weeks until her staff arrives. Licensing will be out next week to review staffing ratios with the manager and to ensure that she understands this part of the Regulation
