    No child is subjected to harmful actions as defined in Section 52. [CCLR Sec 52(1)(a)-(f)]

    Observation. Licensing observed that a child was placed and strapped in a chair waiting to transition from washing their hands after coming inside from outdoor play. Licensing was informed that children wait this way until all children have completed the routine and are ready for lunch. Licensing reminded that children should only be placed in highchairs during eating time only.

  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Play kitchen unit against a wall to be unsecured and easily tippable. - A dustpan and broom accessible to children's touching. Manager removed the dustpan and broom. - Ointments and creams in unlocked cabinet and drawer in the bathroom. Manager informed that these items will be relocated out of reach of children. - Foam mats on the bench in front of the fireplace showing wear and tear. - Corners on the mats used for nap also beginning to show signs of wear and tear.

    All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the fabric seat on a tricycle is torn due to wear and tear. This item is no longer in good repair. A conversation was had with the Manager in regards to providing children with the opportunity to play in the sandbox that is closed today, for sensory play. Manager informed that more sand is being delivered.

    There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Fire extinguisher is current in its servicing. - A portion of the water and food supply for emergency has expired. - Facility emergency supply food and water was difficult to access and not easy to transport.

    Observation. Licensing observed information required to be missing including medical insurance information, and immunization status. Licensing reminded that photos used to identify children in case of emergencies should be clear and front facing, to easily identify children.

    Observation. The manager did not have a copy of an employee's infant/toddler certificate at the facility. The manager provided licensing with a copy by email, but did not provide a copy of the verification
