  • A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing tested the water this date and observed water to be 50.3 degree Celsius. This is an immediate risk to the health and safety of children in care and must be corrected immediately. Licensing requested a health and safety plan until the facility comes into compliance. The manager stated that the children would be supervised at all times while using the bathroom sinks. Licensing accepted the health and safety plan.

    Corrective action. Ensure any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

    Observation. Licensing audited eleven staff files and observed one Early Childhood Educator certificate expired September 22, 2023.

    Observation. Licensing audited seven children's files and observed one missing medical practitioner name and telephone number.

    Observation. Licensing audited six staff files and observed one staff file had a CRC from a different organization.

    Corrective action. Ensure all Criminal Record Checks are specific for the facility.

    Observation. Licensing observed the fire drills had not been preformed or recorded in one of the multi age rooms since June 2022. Staff stated they do fire drills separately.

    Corrective action. Ensure fire drills are performed and recorded monthly.

    Corrective action. Ensure children to staff ratio's for multi age are no more than set out in Schedule E.
