  Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

  Observation. Licensing observed various household and personal items within reach of children that could potentially be hazardous. A discussion with the Licensee occurred regarding keeping these items out of reach of children. Licensing will assess this for compliance at a follow-up inspection.

• HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL / Physical Requirements of FacilityNon-critical

  There is a diaper changing area that is adjacent to a wash basin, that is located away from the food preparation area, and that has a covered container for soiled clothing. [CCLR Sec. 14(4)]

  Observation. Licensing observed a covered container and a basket with used diapers in the washroom, which were causing an odor.

  When care is provided to any child younger than 36 months of age a separate sleeping area located away from any activity area is provided. [CCLR Sec. 15(3)]

  Observation. A conversation was held with the Licensee regarding making the upstairs nap room available for children to use for napping. Currently, children are napping in the activity space downstairs, and the proposed nap room located upstairs is being used by a family member.

• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that the gate leading to the stairs up to the balcony was not locked, and the mesh gate to the side path by the house was also unlocked leading to hazardous materials that could be accessible by children. A conversation was held with the Licensee to ensure that both gates are locked prior to outdoor play.

  A record for each child containing a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(i)]; A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

  Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

  Observation. The Licensee stated that the practice has been conducted, however, it was documented on the cellphone.

  There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the fire extinguisher does not have a service tag A conversation occurred to have the emergency preparedness supplies sufficient to meet the needs of the children and Licensee for a minimum of 72 hours.
