  Observation. Licensing reviewed all children’s records and emergency consent cards and noted that some children’s records listed allergies and medical conditions; however, no medication or care plan is on file with the program. A conversation was held with the manager to review all allergies and medical conditions listed on the registration forms with the families, to determine the severity and whether medication and a care plan are required.

  A record for each child containing the daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(c)]

  Observation. LO reviewed a sample of 10 children records and were in compliance,expect the attendance. LO asked staff to ensure some of the emergency cards are renewed as the writing was not very visible anymore. Children's files with all documentation are kept in a binder that remains on site. Emergency consent cards are kept separate in the going out backpack. LO noted that the children departure in the morning was not recorded. LO review the issue with eth staff.

  Criminal record checks have not been obtained. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)(a)]

  Observation. LO noted one staff did not had a site specific CRC. The CRC that was on file was obtained for a different child care facility.

• STAFFING / Emergency Training and EquipmentNon-critical

  Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

  Observation. The staff stated that the fire drills and emergency plan were practiced ,however no written records were available. The staff showed licensing officer the records for the fire drills and emergency plan for the preschool program. The staff was unsure if the records must be recorded.

No violations recorded at this inspection.

• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Overall the program is clean and well maintained. During last year's inspection, CCFL noted the paint was showing wear and tear. The plan at that time was to repaint during the summer of 2022. This did not happen and the condition of the walls and paint has deteriorated further. There are chips out of the drywall, tears in the drywall paper, worn paint with stains and colouring marks. Discussed the situation with the Manager. Manager confirmed that repainting is easiest to schedule during summer of 2023. Stated that the facility must be painted by September 5, 2023. Noted the front windows are smeared and marked with hand prints etc. Manager noted the prior janitor used to clean the windows even though it was not in the scope of duties. Manager confirmed he would address the dirty windows asap. Also noted the white stool in the washroom is dirty and difficult to clean. Strongly recommended replacing the stool with one that is sturdy but of a more forgiving colour.

  Observation. Reviewed children's files and emergency consent cards. Manager will conduct an inventory to ensure that: 1) All children have up to date photos on file that are accessible to staff 2) Transferring any missing tetanus shot info onto emergency consent cards

  Observation. Children's files with all documentation are kept in a binder that remains on site. Emergency consent cards are kept separate in the going out backpack. Reviewed all files and emergency consent cards. The documentation has improved over past years. However there were some gaps identified in the immunization records and required documentation. Also noted that some emergency consent cards are missing tetanus shot record. Manager committed to addressing the gaps as soon as possible.

  Observation. Reviewed the emergency drill record on the wall of the preschool and school age program. Noted there were some gaps. Manager stated the staff team is consistent with conducting the monthly fire drills but lags in recording them. Manager committed to addressing the matter.
