  A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

  Observation. Licensing observed that staff were not present in the nap room; when Licensing looked into the room, a child was awake and sitting up on their cot. The Manager informed Licensing that staff do not remain in the room once the children are asleep. Additionally, the lighting in the nap room was observed to be insufficient, as the space was too dark.

  For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

  Observation. Licensing observed staff implementing behavioral support for a child; however, no care plan was on file.

  A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

  Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

  Observation. Licensing observed that monthly fire drills have not been documented. There are no records of emergency drill.

  Children have healthy food and drink in accordance with Canada's Food Guide. [CCLR Sec.48(1)(a)]

  Observation. The manager showed licensing a menu for snacks that was in accordance with Canada's Food Guide,however was not yet served. Orange and crackers only were part of the snack offered to children. Parents provide food for breakfast and lunch.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES / Emergency Training and EquipmentNon-critical

  There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

  Observation. Insufficient emergency supplies were on site. Licensing noted that only dry food was available as part of the emergency plan. Licensing reviewed the issue with the facility's manager.

• PROGRAM / Program of activitiesNon-critical

  Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]

  Observation. Licensing noted insufficient activities for indoor play were available to children in care.
