- A licensee must ensure that a child, while under the care or supervision of the licensee, is not subjected to any of the following: (c) harsh, belittling or degrading treatment by an employee or another child, whether verbal, emotional or physical, that could humiliate the child or undermine the child's self respect.
Observation. Licensing noted that the care provider did not respond appropriately to an incident involving a child, photos were taken of the child and shared with the child's parent and the choice of words were inappropriate.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children are not subjected to any harsh belittling or degrading treatment by an employee while under the supervision of the licensee.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the diaper change mat was covered in a fabric that cannot be sanitized properly. The Licensee removed the fabric cover immediately.
Corrective action. Please ensure the diaper change mat has a covering that can be sprayed and easily sanitized.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation. Licensing observed that there were no fire drills recorded for the months of January, February and March 2023, the Licensee said that no fire drills were completed for those months. Fire drills were completed for the year 2022.
Corrective action. Please ensure to practice a monthly fire drill with the children and record it.

Observation. Review of attendance records from Sept, 2020 through June 2021, identified multiple times where there were more children than permitted in Schedule E.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the facility is being operated in compliance with the group size permitted in Schedule E
14360 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - OR SUPERVISION
Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. At arrival Licensing observed that there were 9 children in care, Manager stated that she was aware of having more children than permitted and usually have 7 children in care. Manager expressed that 2 children were enrolled earlier this month and due to 2 other children leaving care at the end of July thought it was acceptable to have these children attend earlier. Manager has stated that she will contact the parents and will no longer have more children than permitted.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the number of children in care do not exceed what is permitted.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Review of 10 children's file found that 2 were missing immunization status.
Corrective action. Please ensure that immunization status are recorded for all children.

Observation. Licensing observed that 2 children were not signed in on the daily attendance today.
Corrective action. Please ensure that the arrival and departure times are recorded for all children in care.

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed that licensee used kitchen garbage bin for soiled diapers that was stored under the kitchen sink and next to eating area. Licensing had a conversation with the licensee at the time of last routine regarding disposing soiled diapers practising health & hygiene and without interrupting continuous supervisor of children in care.
Corrective action. Ensure to establish a program to practice health and hygiene
