    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Fridge temperature is at 6.6 degrees Celsius.

    Corrective action. Licensee will get the fridge temperature changed to below 4 degrees Celsius.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

    Observation. 5 children's files reviewed; 2 missing their immunization record.

    Corrective action. The licensee will update the information.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

    Observation. Criminal record checks are not obtained for the licensee and two family members.

    Corrective action. The licensee has been having issues since last year to obtain them. She went back and forth with the CRRP but never received them. She will try again.

  • HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. The facility has individual hand clothes for each child hanging in the washroom. The Licensee explained that the children use these clothes to dry their hands following hand washing, leave the clothes hanging on the wall, and then the Licensee washes the clothes at the end of the week. Licensing had a convesation with the Licensee regarding this system and other options for optimal hygiene with regards to children drying their hands following hand washing.

    Corrective action. At this time is is recommeded that reuable washclothes and hand towels are used only once and placed in a laundry basket or paper towel is used and disposed of in a garbage container.

    The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

    Observation. All individuals in the home have expired criminal record checks. The Licensee is in the process of renewal.

    Corrective action. Ensure all individuals in the home have valid criminal record checks.
