    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following items observed require attention to reduce the risk of potential injuries to children in care; - some door paint damaged in the classrooms, floor damaged in a washroom, some sinks in program washrooms require attention, outdoor playground #8 has a damaged fence post. These items were reviewed in depth with the manager at the time of the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment if provided at all times.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. -A couch in the OSC program in disrepair with canvas which is wearing out. -Children's couch cushion was torn, exposing foam making the cushion unsanitizeable. -One large full cupboard with items stored on top was not anchored, posing a tipping hazard.

    Corrective action. The manager removed the couch cushion during inspection. The Manager said the couch in the OSC program will be removed.

    Observation. 2 of 5 care plans had not been reviewed annually.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Licensing observed: -Transition strip in one of the programs is covered with tape - the tape is puckering and is collecting dirt. -Some chipped paint throughout the building. Manager said that there are maintenance tickets in for both items.

    Corrective action. Ensure facility is clean and in good repair.

    Observation. Licensing and EHO observed rodent activity in the care areas such as the Infant room. Accumulation of droppings were noticed behind play equipment, furniture, behind the fridge and under the sink.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: - unsecured suspended electrical cords, within the reach of children, posing a potential risk of entanglement; a staff removed the cords from children's reach during the inspection - wood chips and sand have worn away exposing turf netting and posing a tripping hazard; manager has a plan to replace surface materials and cut away exposed netting during the inspection

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Grass has worn away and the turf netting is exposed and poses a tripping hazard. The staff are cutting pieces away as they are surfacing. Staff said they have discussed a plan for spring. - Gaps under the fencing in the infant playgrounds is larger than 4 inches potentially due to erosion of soil. This is accessible to the parking lot/garbage area. - All sand boxes are uncovered, allowing access to animals and other hazards

    Corrective action. Please provide a plan as to how these will be addressed

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Toddler nap room - cell phone cord and two sound machines plugged into the wall were accessible to the children. The staff confirmed that the children are left unattended in the naproom once they fall asleep. - Toilet bowl cleaner located in the bathroom cupboard accessible to children

    Corrective action. Please ensure that these items sre not accesible to children
