  Licensing is notified within 24 hours after a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H or has a reportable communicable disease. [CCLR Sec.55(2)(a)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed log book entries noting cases of children who had been ill with GI symptoms over the last few weeks. Manager did report some initial cases to an Environmental Health Officer,however additional cases were not reported.

• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / Play Area, Materials and EquipmentNon-critical

  Play materials and/or equipment are not safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed a hard plastic underlay in the sandbox located in the outdoor play space. The underlay was exposed and had a sharp edge, which may pose a hazard if a child falls.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. LO observed a change mat in one of the washrooms that appeared soiled and was ripped in several spots. Licensee replaced the change mat during the inspection. LO observed that the mirror in one washroom and a covered garbage can in another washroom appeared soiled and in need of a clean.
