    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A ceiling tile in the nap room was observed to be shifting out of place and at risk of falling. Staff confirmed that repair is scheduled, and no children currently sleep underneath this area. - The children’s toilet had visible grime on the seat and toilet seat insert. Staff cleaned and sanitized the area during the inspection. - The children’s handwashing sink and washroom floor were observed to be in need of cleaning. Licensing will provide a cleaning resource. - The garbage bin in the diapering area was observed open for a duration of the inspection. The bin was closed following a discussion with staff.

    Observation. During the inspection, the gate to the kitchen was observed to be unlatched on two occasions. In a lower kitchen cabinet, chemical cleaning supplies were potentially accessible to children.

    Observation. Licensing observed one hand towel in the children’s bathroom. Staff noted that the same towel is currently being used by all of the children and is washed once per day. Licensing discussed that this practice does not meet health and safety requirements due to the risk of cross-contamination of bacteria and germs.

    Observation. Licensing did not observe a criminal record check on file for one of the ordinarily present staff.
