  A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,

  Observation. A child had an expired epi pen and staff were unaware of the allergy or what it was required for.

  Corrective action. Ensure staff are aware of what the epi pen is needed for and ensure the medication is valid.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.

  Observation. Upon inspection of the minor log book licensing noted that an incident that took place on December 21, 2023 where a child left the facility was reported to licensing via phone. However, when licensing read the minor log book some addition information was added stating that the child in care disappeared and the staff was not aware of the child's whereabouts. The staff looked up and down the street but could not see the child. Child returned from his hiding space and said to the staff that he was going to go to one of the parents house. Staff followed the child to make sure they arrive safe to the said location.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that licensing is notified of Reportable Incidents.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. During the inspection of the physical facility it was noted that a tripod spot light measuring approximately 5 feet in height was placed in front of a cupboard which children were using to access play items, colouring pages, and art items. The tripod spot light presents a tripping hazard to children and staff.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any hazardous items.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection of the physical facility it was observed that the managers name was not displayed.

  Corrective action. Please ensure the manager's name is desplayed in a prominent area.

• LICENSING

  A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

  Observation. During the inspection it was noted that no certificates were posted. Manager stated that she did not know where the certificates might be found.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff certificates are posted in a prominent area in the facility.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. During the inspection 8 random children's files were inspected and it was noted that all 8 were missing the gender.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are completed.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

  Observation. During the inspection the manager could not produce character references for all three present staff. Manager stated that the records might be at the head office.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have character references on file.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.

  Observation. During the inspection the manager could not produce a record of a person's work history for all three present staff. Manager stated the records might be at the head office.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a record of their work history on file.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. During the inspection the manager could not produce immunization for all three present staff. Manager stated that she did not know where the information might be found.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff has a record of immunization on file.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. During the inspection the manager could not produce the CRC for all three employees. The manager stated that the CRC's for staff might be at the head office.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a criminal record check on file.
