    A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as Family Child Care or Child-minding, must have for each child at least 3.7 m2 of usable floor area in the community care facility, excluding (a) hallways, (b) built in storage areas, (c) bathrooms, and (d) fixed appliances, or, if not fixed, large appliances that are not normally moved from one area to another.

    Observation. Not sufficient usable floor spaces were available to accommodate the max. group size. Miscellaneous items were stored in the rooms.

    Corrective action. Ensure sufficient floor space available for 8 children.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. LO noted and discussed the following items with the Licensee: - Outdoor fence: wood rot, rusty nails sticking out of the fence. - Hand truck ( moving dolly) and large piece of metal stored in area accessible to children. - Fridge temperature: the measured temperature was 5.9 and there was no thermometer in the fridge. Fridge temperature should be 0-4 to safely store children's perishable food.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
