- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Emergency exit used to store items results in the exit hampered to use in the event of an emergency. The Licensee corrected this at the time of the inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure an emergency exits are clear at all times.
11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. Three staff working in the facility at the time of the inspection did not have evidence of their ECE Certificates posted.
Corrective action. Ensure all qualified educators have their certificates posted within the facility.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. Three children's files were reviewed and one file did not have evidence of immunization status.
Corrective action. Ensure all children's are complete.
19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation. Emergency practice reviewed at the time of the inspection. No practices recorded or conducted to date. The LO reviewed this requirement with the Licensee in depth.
Corrective action. Ensure an annual emergency practice is conducted and recorded.
12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for three employees.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete including immunization status.
12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Five staff working on site at the time of the inspection. Four staff did not have evidence of Criminal Record Check's available.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff have valid CRC's prior to working with children.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. Observation. Three staff did not have evidence of their certificates validated through the ECE Registry.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff have their ECE Certificates validated through the ECE Registry.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Review of the fire drill records noted there were no fire drills documented for the months of April, May and June. The facility was opened and operating from April.
Corrective action. Please ensure to practice and document fire drills.
