  The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

  Observation. Licensing observed criminal record checks for two persons over the age of 12 who are ordinarily present had expired.

  Corrective action. Manager stated they would apply for criminal record checks for two persons.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. Review of 5 children's files observed 1 missing an emergency contact and 1 missing a medical practitioner's name and phone number.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are complete.

  Observation. Review of 3 staff files observed 1 did not have a criminal record check from the Criminal Record Review Board. There was an RCMP criminal record check on file.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a criminal record check is obtained from the Criminal Record Review Board.

  Observation. The name of the manager was not posted.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that manager's name is posted in a prominent place within the facility.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Emergency Supplies were not accessible to implement the plan in case of an emergency.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that emergency supplies are stored in a manner that is easily accessible to staff while children are in care.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.

  Observation. DLSOP Active Play – The Licensee has not developed and/or implemented a Screen Use Policy.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that written policy is developed and shared with staff and family of children in care.

  Observation. LO noted that a child was not signed in to the program.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that current record of daily attendance is maintained for children in care.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. LO noted an educator's certificate was not validated through the ECE registry.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that staff file is complete.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. LO observed and discussed the following with Manager onsite: Outdoor Play Area: -Large steel hammock stand to be stored safely out of children's reach. -Plastic back from the wooden bench is broken, exposing sharp plastic edges. Indoor Area: - Diaper creams stored in cubbie area were accessible to all children ( Corrected during inspection).

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.
