  Observation. Review of the Manager's file noted there was no record of the certificate validation.

  Corrective action. Please ensure certificates are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood registry.

• STAFFING

  The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.

  Observation. Upon arrival at the facility there was a person present (age 12) that did not have a criminal record check.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain a criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present.

  A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

  Observation. Staff on site did not have a current first aid, it is expired.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children have access at all times to an employee who holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. LO observed and discussed below observation with the Manager: - shelving unit within the small playroom to be installed against the wall; or make the metal brackets not accessible to the children. - missing gate on top of the stairs. The manager said that new gate will be installed. - lighter and garderning shovel stored outside ( garden); make it inacccessible to the children.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. The following were observed and discussed with the Manager: - holes on the playpen's mesh used for nap. - all napping mats with rips; this does not allow proper sanitization after each use.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that all furniture and equipment are clean and in good repair.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. 4 children's files were reviewed; 2 children were not signed in.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all children are signed in and out at the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. The following were observed and discussed with Manager today: - Naproom: playpen's mesh panel has hole. This could pose safety hazard. Please ensure that Playpen used for napping has no rips or tears. - Storage closet: a child safety lock is needed to make it inaccessible to the children and prevent finger pinch. - Door: some maintenance required to the door frame weatherstrip seal (scratched and ripped).

  Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided all times while children are in care.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

  Observation. There was no log book available on site to document minor incidents and unexpected events involving children that did not require medical attention and were not reportable as per Schedule H.

  Corrective action. LO discussed about starting a log book to keep current records of above mentioned items involving all children in care.
