• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed the toilet seat was dirty with what appeared to be fecal matter.

  Corrective action. Ensure the bathroom is clean.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.

  Observation. Licensing observed the fire drill was not completed for February.

  Corrective action. Ensure there is a system to complete fire drills on a monthly basis.

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

  Observation. LO observed 5 children in care who were younger than 36 months in a single group.

  Corrective action. Ensure that children are divided in appropriate group size as per Sch. E of CCLR.

  A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

  Observation. LO reviewed 8 children files; 1 child had no file ( registration) onsite.

  Corrective action. Ensure that all children files are complete.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. 8 children files were reviewed; 1 child had no file.

  Corrective action. Ensure that all children files are complete.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. 8 children were in care; only 6 were signed in today.

  Corrective action. Ensure that accurate attendance records of children are kept.
