  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the ground surfacing to be inadequate. There is a limited amount of pea gravel on the ground and with a scuff of a shoe you can see the hard ground surface. Manager recognized that resilient surfacing is not deep enough. This is a repeat contravention. Licensing will provided DOLSOP as a resource

    Observation. Medication noted on a child's care plan was not accessible to employees. Licensing had a discussion about the importance having medication on-site and not relying on it being delivered in middle of staff conducting the care plan's course of action.

    Observation. Upon inspection there were: -1 diaper change mat that was ripped -damaged floor mat that posed a tripping hazard

    Observation. Upon inspection Licensing observed a child refusing to hold a staff's hand.The staff then lifted the child by the hand, causing the child's feet to not reach the ground and carried them down the stairs.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed laundry detergent on the counter in the teacher's bathroom. The bathroom did not have a lock and is accessible to children. Staff advised that the lock on the door is broken.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Upon inspection, licensing observed the ground surfacing to be inadequate. There is a limited amount of pea gravel on the ground and several areas that you can see the hard ground surface under the pea gravel. Manager recognized that resilient surfacing is not deep enough. There is another area of the playground that has been dug up and there is exposed pipes. Manager recognized that the area needs to be covered or inaccessible for children.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. As in DOLSOP Safe Play Space, the recommended depth guidelines for loose fill material is a minimum of 15cm(6 inches).
