A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

Observation. Licensing observed in the outdoor play area: - A metal spike protruding from the concreted area which is accessible to children's play - Several gaps under the bottom of the fencing on all sides of the fenced area that children could get stuck under - Wiring for the camera system trailing along the concteted area - risk of entrapment

Corrective action. Please ensure a safe outdoor playspace at all times whenchildren are in care. Please provide a corrective action plan to Licensing by the date below

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. During audit of staff file it was noted that there is not a site specific Criminal Record Check completed. A CRC provided by the staff from another location is not considered valid

Corrective action. The Licensee will apply for a site specific CRC and submit a health/safety plan for the duration of the processing time.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. During audit of staff file, it was noted that the ECE certificate verification was not present

Corrective action. Licensee will verify staff ECE certificate, and place evidence in the staff file on site
