A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

Observation. Licensing observed the outdoor play area to have: - weeds covering a vast area of play space. This is a repeat contravention - Bramble branches trailing into space accessible to children - Holes in the grass which, if stepped in, could cause some harm to children's ankles - Wasp nest under the eae of the shed

Corrective action. Please ensure the outdoor play area is safe and free from harm

A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

Observation. Licensing observed no single use towles fro children to dry their hands after washing. Manager said that they use baby wipes to dry them and then if still wet, pat them on a communal towel, which is a concern for cross contamination.

Corrective action. Please ensure single use towels are avialable to ensure proper hygiene practice.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.

Observation. Licensing observed a certificate not posted of a staff working today - further discussed.

Corrective action. Please ensure all certified staff certificates are prominently displayed

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Observation. Licensing observed: Fire extinguisher without a service card. Manager said it had been serviced but no evidence of that. Smoke alarm battery had failed and needs replacement.

Corrective action. Pleae ensure all equipment for emergency evacuation is in good working order.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. DLSOP Safe Play Space – Equipment has been installed over concrete, asphalt or other hard surfaces and does not have adequate depth. Licensing also observed the following: - Backyard area contains lots of weeds in the children's regular play space - Gate was not secured leading in to the playspace and can easily accessed. A maintenance checklist was not in place to ensure a safe play space.

Corrective action. Manager will address outdoor concerns and provide a corrective action plan to Licensing.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].

Observation. Manager file was missing the following: - Immunization status - Character references - Validation These records are available on file at the Licensing office but also need to be retained on site.

Corrective action. Manager will ensure file is complete with required documents.
