  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (b) keep a record other than one referred to in paragraph (a) in a place from which it can be retrieved within a reasonable time, on request.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 employee files, and found 1 employee file was unavailable for review. The manager said this file is complete, however is at another facility location. Fire and evacuation records from the previous year were unavailable for review. The manager said they had been completed and filled out, however was unsure of the whereabouts.

  Corrective action. The manager will obtain these records and ensure they are available for review at the facility.

  Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of arrival there were 26 children in care in once classroom with children who were in Kindergarten and Grade 1 in attendance. The capacity reduced to 24 during inspection

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. -One of two bathroom's wall heater cover was off, and provides access to the heat coils while children are using the toilet. -The cupboard under the sink was unlatched and contained cleaning supplies and plastic garbage bags accessible to children during play. -An air purifier was stored on top of a shelf and was not secured to the wall, providing risk of falling on a child.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. -Couch in the play area's vinyl cover was showing signs of chipping away, making it difficult to sanitize. The manager said she will be ordering a cover for the couch today. -The window trim was missing below one window, and some signs of damage to the wall below was visible. -One cupboard had a broken hinge which provided a potential pinching hazard.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

  Observation. During the inspection licensing observed: -An electrical outlet that was uncovered, with an extension cord and exposed outlets accessible to children in care. -An electrical cord hanging from the wall providing risk for entanglement. -Vacuum stored in the bathroom with a loose cord. -Can of Air freshener stored in the bathroom accessible to children.

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. During the inspection licensing observed items stored in the bathroom including mop and bucket This prevents the ability to sanitize the bathroom effectively. The manager said she will remove and store the items elsewhere.

  Observation. One of two bathroom sink water temperature tested at 51 degrees Celsius.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees Celsius.

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. During review of the emergency evacuation kit, some food items had expired in January of 2021.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover form any emergency.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. 6 children's files reviewed did not contain immunization records.

  Corrective action. Please ensure to keep record of immunization for each child in care.
