  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following:( CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) - Heavy toys and items were placed on the air purifier machine that can be a safety hazard as they can fall over. - Electrical cords to the Air Purifier in the purple room were not tucked away which can be a tripping hazard. - The water hose in the outdoor play area was not wrapped back on to the water hose reel.

    Corrective action. Ensure that a safe environment free of hazards is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

    Observation. Of ten files reviewed three files did not list the medical practitioner contact information. It is noted that this is a repeat contravention from the previous inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain the medical practitioner name and phone # or to obtain the walk in clinic contact information.

    Observation. Upon reviewing seven staff files it was reviewed that the Criminal Record Check was not obtained/included in one of the staff files.

    Corrective action. Ensure that all the required documentation is available for the staff and is included in their respective files.

    Observation. References (names and contact information) provided for a staff employed within the facility however there is no record to demonstrate that the references have been contacted. It is noted that this is a repeat contravention as identified during a previous inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure a system is developed to capture staff screening requirements including reference checks.

    Observation. Of seven staff files reviewed four staff ECE certificates were not verified by the verification process as established by the director of the ECE.

    Corrective action. Ensure system of screening is complete for staff to include the verification process as established by the director of the ECE registry.
