Observation. Several children's files were observed to be missing information including medical health insurance information, and immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

Observation. One ECE certificate verification could not be located.

Ground Surfacing: The depth of loose fill material (protective surfacing) meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of the Standard of Practice. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. Licensing observed the loose fill material to be insufficient to meet minimum requirements outlined in the Director of Licensing Standard of Practice- Safe Play Space. A black layer of surfacing is exposed due to the lack of loose fill under the swings, and dirt ground is exposed in the surrounding area.

For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

Observation. One medical care plan was not completed with current information. The child requiring life saving medication was not present during the inspection, and the medication was not observed. Manager informed that the child brings his medication in his backpack daily. An updated set of care plan templates will be sent as a resource.

Observation. Licensing observed missing information from staff records including references, current CRC conducted for the facility, and immunization status. An electronic resource is sent with this report to assist with maintaining current records.

A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

Observation. *CCFL observed staff cleaning tables with Lysol wipes and a discussion was held in regards to 2-step cleaning and using bleach and water to properly disinfect surfaces. CCFL to send a resource. *A container of Lysol wipes and spray bottle of cleanser was observed on a low counter in the upstairs room within children's reach.

There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

Observation. *The fire extinguishers located in the preschool room which is used in the afternoons by the K's, 1's and 2's from the school age program are overdue for servicing as of November 2022.

Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

Observation. *Licensing observed an unlocked service room, staff bathroom, and storage room. Potentially hazardous items including air freshener, mouthwash, Vim, and an unsecured electrical cord were observed to be accessible to children.
