  Observation. During the inspection, Licensing observed educators physically redirecting children on several occasions, including during group story time. Some children who moved away from the group activity were physically brought back and kept at the activity by educators. A discussion with the Manager took place regarding these observations and the facility’s practice of physically redirecting children.

  Design: For prevention of entrapment, spaces (i.e., holes or openings) are smaller than 9 cm (3.5 inches) or larger than 23 cm (9 inches). [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

  Observation. A number of openings in the fencing around the outdoor play area measured between 3.5 and 9 inches. These included gaps at the bottom of the fence, at the corners where sides connect, and between the fence pole and the entrance gate. These areas pose potential entrapment hazards.
