    Observation. A minimum of 2 character references was not obtained for 1 staff. The Manager said that the staff is a family member, however, it was discussed that references are still required for any and all staff/volunteers working at the facility.

    Corrective action. The Manager will obtain at least 2 character references and keep in the staff's file.

    Observation. On Mar. 11, 2024, Licensing observed that the group in the gym had 1 staff with 15 K-Gr. 1's. The staff to child ratio for this age group is 1 staff per 12 children.

    Corrective action. The Manager will address the inadequate staffing.

    Observation. On Mar. 8, 2024, Licensing observed that there were 31 children in total in Room 219, with K-Gr 1's present. The maximum group size for K-Gr. 1's is 24 children and the facility's maximum capacity is 30 children at any one time.

    Corrective action. The Manager will apply for an amendment to increase the facility's maximum capacity.

    Observation. During a review of staff files, it was observed that 1 CRC was expired and 1 did not have an expiry date. Discussion was had with the Manager regarding confirming whether or not the latter CRC has an expiry date.

    Corrective action. The Manager will apply to obtain a current CRC for all persons working in the facility.

    Observation. Upon arrival, Licensing observed 28 children with 1 staff. It was confirmed by staff that there were K's and Gr. 1's in the group. The Manager arrived some time later and said that she was downstairs talking to a child's teacher. The Manager explained that she is aware of the group sizes and child to staff ratio when different age groups are involved. This is a repeat contravention from Routine Inspection SVAA-CCZNQC.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children attending the facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.

    Observation. During the inspection, it was observed that the Manager had 22 children in care and 1 staff present. The maximum capacity of the facility is 20 children. This is a repeat contravention from routine inspection #SVAA-CCZNQC. Licensing reminded the Manager that she could amend her license to School Age on School Grounds service type to accomodate additional children. The facility cannot exceed the capacity of 20 until the license has been amended.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that the maximum capacity of 20 is not exceeded at all times.
