    Observation. The licensee prepares snacks and lunch for the children. The facility refrigerator was observed to have sticky substances on the shelves and appeared unclean. It was observed that children had access to a propane tank and a car battery outside the coned off area located in the outdoor play space of the facility. It was observed children had access to adult scissors in the facilities playroom. This was resolved during the inspection.

    Observation. There is no evidence of a system in place to ensure that parents are informed of all food and drink given to the children.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. The system used to ensure current records for each child are kept appears to be ineffective. The registration forms are inconsistent and do not contain all the required information as per Section 57 of the Child Care Licensing Regulation. One child had no file available, some files are missing immunization status, photo's, and a record of any person who is not permitted access to the child. There was no evidence of a system in place for ensuring play space inspections are conducted and recorded.

    Observation. The system in place to ensure fire drills are conducted and recorded appears to be ineffective. There was no evidence of fire drills being conducted in January, February, March 2024.

    Observation. All persons over the age of 12 including the licensee did not have evidence of criminal record check clearances. Evidence of a valid first aid certificate was not available at the time of inspection.

    Observation. The container used to dispose soiled diapers is broken. Hazards were observed in the outdoor play space including an accessible gas can containing gas, several unlocked adult sized bicycles, and a vehicle parked on the play-space cement patio. The outdoor play space requires clear delineation between daycare space and family space.

    Observation. Several child records were incomplete including: - Medical insurance number. - Medical practitioner's name and phone number. - Enrollment start and end dates. Written consent to call a medical practitioner/ambulance was not available in one child's file. It was observed that one child who attended in the morning and left, was not signed out of the facility.

Sharp hand held pruning shears are accessible to children (Cleared during inspection) Propane tanks are accessible to children. A container of fire retardant is accessible to children. The facilities diaper change pad is in poor repair.
