Observation. Nine staff records reviewed. One staff did not have a resume on file.
Corrective action. Ensure all staff have a resume on file prior to employment. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3010 - CCLR 19(1)(c) - Equipment must not be installed over concrete, asphalt or other hard surfaces (may include dry grass
Observation. Licensing observed a plastic slide 18 inches in height in the Group Child Care (30 Months to School Age) playground. The slide was on cement with less than one half an inch of pea gravel.
Corrective action. Ensure equipment that children can fall off is not installed over concrete, asphalt or other hard surfaces. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3000 - SPS DOLSOP (Hard surfaces) - A licensee must do all of the following:(b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care
Observation. At this inspection the manager was not present on site. Imposed conditions on the licence state "A designate to be assigned to fulfil the role as Manager when Manager is absent due to illness, leave of absences or vacation." Staff at the facility stated the Manager was absent on this day due to vacation. When Licensing arrived on site staff were not aware of who was the Acting Manager. One ECE stepped into the role of Acting Manager and assisted Licensing with this routine inspection.
Corrective action. Licensee must ensure imposed conditions on the Licence are followed at all times. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3080 - CCALA 7(1)(b)(i) - The licensee must develop the care plan in consultation,with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Ten children's files reviewed. Five children's files had reports from Supported Child Development included in the child's file. Three children had one-on-one support workers at the facility. None of these children had valid care plans on file that had been developed in consultation with the parent and signed within the past 12 months.
Corrective action. Ensure care plans are developed in consultation with the child's parent. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3070 - CCLR 58(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility
Observation. Ten children's files reviewed. One child did not have date of enrolment recorded.
Corrective action. Ensure date of enrolment is recorded for each child. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3070 - CCLR 57(2)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a valid certificate issued under Division 2 and the Licensee has verified certification
Observation. Nine staff records reviewed. Two staff had renewed their educator certificates and one staff who was a recent hire did not have their educator or assistant certificates validated.
Corrective action. Ensure educator or assistant certificates are validated, including renewed certificates. Action/s Required by Licensing: Follow Up Inspection to be conducted.
3010 - CCLR 19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person
Observation. Nine staff records reviewed. One staff had one character reference on file.
