  Observation. The following hazardous objects were accessible to children in care: -sheets of drywall located next to the diaper change table -metal soffit laying on top of the garbage cans in the outside play space

  Corrective action. Manager will remove or secure all hazardous materials

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Staff files reviewed, and noted that one Criminal Record Check is not site specific

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

  Observation. Log book is not maintained and the record of any minor incidents is not available for licensing to review

  Corrective action. Staff will get the log book in consultation with the manager and start recording the minor incidents.

  A licensee must have in writing from a parent, and maintain at the community care facility, consent (a) to call a medical practitioner or ambulance in case of accident or illness if the parent cannot immediately be reached.

  Observation. Out of two files reviewed in one file the consent to call a medical practtioner or ambulance was not obtatined.

  Corrective action. Staff will obtain the consent from the parent today during the pick up time.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

  Observation. upon reviewing the two staff files licensing observed that the phone numbers for the refrences waere available however if the refrences were checked or obtained was not evident

  Corrective action. Staff will remind the manger/licensee to obtain the references.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. One of the staff ECE certificate was not validated by the system maintained by the Early Childhood Registry

  Corrective action. Staff will talk to the manager to get the certificate validated

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. The following items present an unsafe environment for children in care and require addressing: -two tall black shelves located in the main play area have not been secured to the wall, which could fall and harm a child -water table located in outdoor play area is full with water, water tables should be dumped prior to children accessing outdoor play space

  Corrective action. The Licensee/Manager will ensure all equipment is free of standing water at all times children are in care

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Audit of attendance records noted many blank spaces, therefore difficult to determine whether the children were present or absent, and the times of arrival and departure are blank

  Corrective action. The Licensee/Manager will ensure the attendance records contain all required documentation including arrival/departure times, absences or not scheduled (if weekends are present, please indicate what days these may be)

  Observation. During an audit of staff files it was noted that one staff has updated their ECE credentials with additional information however this certificate has not been verified

  Corrective action. The Licensee/Manager will ensure all ECE/ECEA credentials are verified after each time a change has been made to the certification
