  • A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as School Age Care on School Grounds, must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

Observation. Licensing measured the water temperature at 51.8 degrees Celsius on the kitchen sink where children were observed washing their hands. This represents an immediate risk to the health and safety of the children in care and must be corrected immediately. The manager stated that the children would not use the kitchen sink anymore and the stepping stool was removed. The children would only use the bathroom sink for handwashing. Full compliance will not be achieved until the plan has been implemented and completed.

Corrective action. Ensure water accessible to the children in care is not more than 49 degrees Celsius.
