Observation. Licensing observed three cans of Frebreeze on the side of toilet in the Group Child Care (Under 36 Months) program accessible to the children in care. Licensing observed this placed up high on the shelf at the time of inspection.
Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any object and substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.
3000 - CCLR 17 - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]
Observation. Licensing observed that an emergency drill had not been recorded in the last year. Licensing observed this recorded at the time of inspection as staff stated they had conducted an emergency drill but had not recorded.
Corrective action. Ensure emergency drills are conducted and recorded once a year.
3020 - CCLR 56(1)(c) - Applicants for licences and licensees must notify a medical health officer immediately of any change in the information provided under section 9
Observation. Licensing observed the Care Group Child Care( 30 Months to School Age) was under construction in the bathroom. The children were not in care while the construction was being completed. Licenisng was not notified of the construction in the Group Child Care (30 months to School Age) program.
3070 - CCLR 10(1) - A licensee must do all of the following:(b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care
Observation. Licensing observed that the outdoor log was not regularly checked as it was dated 2024. Last date recorded was April 9, 2025. Staff stated that a daily check was conducted but not recorded.
3070 - CCALA 7(1)(b)(i) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation. Licensing observed one staff working in the Preschool room with one child that was a Responsible Adult. The staff stated they were a qualified teacher through the Ministry. Child Care Licensing Regulations require an ECE for this category of care as per Schedule E.
Corrective action. Ensure ratio of employees to children attending he community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
